Hi, I’m Arifa Ateeb. I’m a nail artist and a fashion designer, and this is my site.
I started Getting Ready Club because of something that had annoyed me for years. You go looking for nail ideas online and all you get is pictures. Lovely pictures, sure. But nobody tells you how long the design takes, whether you need a lamp for it, or if it will even look right on short nails. So you save twenty photos, sit down with your polish, and you are still stuck.
So I decided to give you the rest of it.
Every design on this site comes with the things you actually need to know. How long it takes. How hard it is. What you need to have on hand. And how to do it, step by step. If a look really needs a salon, I will tell you it needs a salon. If you can do it at your kitchen table with two bottles and a bit of patience, I will tell you that too.
Two crafts, one habit
Fashion is where I learned color. Which shades sit well next to each other, which ones flatter which skin, why a color feels right in October and completely wrong in April.
Nails are where I learned patience. You are working on something the size of a thumbnail. There is nowhere to hide a shaky line.
Doing both changed the way I look at a manicure. I don’t think of it as a picture on its own. It is part of an outfit. That is why I talk about color the way I do here, and why I go on about shape and length so much. They change the whole look of your hand.

What I promise you
I will not tell you something takes twenty minutes when it takes an hour and a half.
I will not recommend a product I have not used myself.
I will not use anyone else’s photos. Every image here is made for this site or properly licensed.
And I will go back and update the old posts when colors and trends move on, instead of leaving you with advice from three years ago.
